FAQ

How do I access the virtual meeting?
You will receive a link via email that will provide access to the 2020 AIM virtual platform. If you have not received this link by Friday, July 10, please email Jessica Bell. This link will go to the email used for registration. With this link, you will have access to all committee meetings, live, on-demand, and Q&A sessions as well as the various networking and events, and the career fair. Registration is necessary for access.

What will happen to my room reservation?
Reservations made at the Marriott or Hilton under the ASABE room block will be automatically cancelled. Attendees that made other reservations outside of the block or at a different hotel are responsible for cancelling their own reservation.

I already registered, do I need to register again?
Registrations for the 2020 AIM made prior to the announcement of cancelling the Omaha meeting will automatically be registered for the virtual meeting. The resulting overpayment can be refunded to you upon request. If no response is received, or the desire is to donate the difference, the overpayment will be applied to a special financial assistance fund to help those in need participate in the virtual AIM. Contact Jessica for details.

I submitted my abstract before the January deadline, now what?
All accepted submitting authors have been sent communication on how to proceed. If you do not think that you have received this, a copy can be sent to you. You can also find the instructions on the meeting website under Submitting Presentations.

Will I earn continuing education credit for attending?
Professional Development Hours (PDH) are a nationally recognized unit of record in non-credit professional development programs that can be earned for participating in activities at this meeting. A form will be made available for you to track how many hours of sessions you’ve engaged in. 1 PDH is equal to 1 hour of content.

In which time zone will the live sessions be held?
The live sessions will take place in the Eastern Timezone.

How long can I log into the virtual content?
All of the oral and poster technical sessions, guest speaker sessions, and continuing professional development courses will be available to view on-demand for up to 30 days after the meeting.

Why does it cost so much?
We anticipate the question: Well if it’s virtual, why isn’t it free? It’s true that many of the traditional costs from an in-person meeting are eliminated, such as food and beverage, room rentals, A/V and travel; however, we have new costs associated with a virtual meeting partner and the technology platform, which will enable the meeting to be produced and archived. ASABE has had stable financials from year to year but the pandemic has changed everything. The registration rates were selected to balance the anticipated value the virtual AIM will provide—and the value is substantial—and the necessary revenue to keep ASABE functioning.
